Abstract
This work analyses the attractiveness of contemporary cafes and bistros in historic urban backyards in the City of Goiás, Brazil, which are places of meetings, social gatherings, book presentations and other small events. These cafés are located in a municipality known for outstanding cultural elements, such as poetry, gastronomy, heritage and religion. Therefore, this article departs from multiple qualitative data (enhanced by participant observation) and in loco observations (fieldwork) to carry out research during the New Coronavirus (Sars-CoV-2) pandemic in 2020-2021. The findings reveal that Café Jasmim is a space for showing the work of local artists, which reinforces art as an essential local tourism component and Cora Café and Bistrô as a place of cultural, literary and creative experiences for visitors. The paper also presents the threats and prospects for commercial establishments at this tourist destination.
