Abstract

Digital nomads work virtually and travel constantly, looking for experiences in a destination they want to know. As it is a recent lifestyle, there is a theoretical gap in the understanding of this new type of tourist. The objective of this research is to investigate the relationship between the destination experience and the quality of life of digital nomads. An investigation structured in two phases was developed: (1) literature review and (2) quantitative research. A questionnaire survey in English was distributed via Facebook groups, aimed at digital nomads, as well as on the NomadList platform and in this group's Slack communities. The data analysis consists of sample characterization, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, structural model and non-linear relationship. It was possible to verify that there is a relationship between the travel experience and the quality of life of digital nomads, and the most salient dimensions of the quality of life of digital nomads, in order of importance, are: health and work (equally), spirituality, social/family, leisure, environment and, finally, material.
